TRUMPET LESSONS
Play trumpet, or wanna learn how?
Some people I know have come up to me and asked me if I can teach them how to play trumpet. I said "sure, we just have to schedule time to do it." well, I still haven't scheduled any time yet...but now I can! and I have a lot of room for other people so if you live in the Colonie, NY area and you OWN a trumpet (or rent one) e-mail me at the1andonlytweak@hotmail.com and we can set something up. Really!!
RESUME
Just a note: I've been playing trumpet for about 12 years and in those 12 years, I have slacked off a lot. I never practiced, never really truly learned how to read certain figures in music...basically I copied what everyone else was doing. Yeah, it was a bad thing, and believe me, I had to pay for it. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was good enough to be 1st chair in most school ensambles, but when I looked back on it, I didn't take it very seriously. But the past 3 years or so, I have been working my butt off, trying to be the best I can be. And believe me, It's paid off. The reason I say this before I write the actual resume is because I don't want any of my students to make the same mistake I made. If you want to play, you gotta take it seriously. I didn't, and i had to pay for it. So take it from me, I WILL NOT let any of my students make that same mistake.
Anyways...:
As far as growing up goes, the big thing I did in 7th grade up to about 10th grade was the Blue and Gray Civil War Band. This was a nationally known band that started out as a 25 member Civil War rememberance band and ended as a 100+ member Revolutionary War thru Gulf War rememberance band. We made 3 CD's and have toured Gettysburg, PA, Richmond, VA, and even Washington D.C. and played at the White House. Sadly, the band broke up, but I was in it for most of the time it was around.
Most of my high school playing involved the symphonic band and wind ensamble, as well as the jazz ensamble. I was also involved in some extracurricular trumpet playing, including church playing.
Now in college, I practice a few hours each day. Sadly, I should be practicing more, about seven hours a day (some will say even more than that). But I have worked on that bad habit, and it is slowly going away. I play in the Wind Ensamble, Jazz Ensamble, and play in one brass recital every semester.
Basic Info.
I will most likely teach beginner to intermediate trumpet players, from any age. Lessons will probably be at my house, in our living room (it's a very nice living room).
Price range will probably be from 10 to 15 dollars for a 45 minute lesson. I haven't made my mind up yet on it. (THIS IS A REALLY GOOD DEAL. Most charge 30 dollars and up for a lesson as long as that. Think about it.)
Required Materials
You will need to purchase trumpet books, if you do not own them. I will recommend some if you e-mail me. If you all ready own books, e-mail me and tell me the titles, most likely i have used them myself.
thats about it for now.
